Creating the front cover

This post will show how I have gone through different stages to create my final front cover. I felt that my final cover came out just the way I wanted it to, I used all of the colours I was suggested to use and they worked very well together. I made it in PhotoShop.

Stage 1:

This was the first stage to making my front cover. First I placed a picture of our universe or space as the background scene. Once I was happy with the placement of it I then placed my photo of Slender, I had to remove the white background and touch up on his size and colour before I placed him on the background. Having him in the centre on my front page shows that he is the main artist I am featuring inside my magazine. After that I added the title of the magazine 'Spectrum' which I have coloured to fit in with my background and my colour scheme I am using. Then I placed a banner showing where 'text' would go and then I placed the magazines bar code to make it seem like a real magazine.

Stage 2:

I have now added other boxes for text to be placed so that I can fit more of what will be featured in my magazine on the front page. This should attract my target audience because if they see something they like/want to read they will be encouraged to pick up the magazine and perhaps buy it. I then showed where my artist name will be placed so that my target audience will know who he is.

Stage 3:

I have now started to add text to the magazine and have designed Slender's logo. Having used the skyline for  a selling point I have advertised 'free song from Slender' and 'Win concert tickets' so that the audience will see it and then hopefully buy it.

Stage 4:

I have started to add effects around my magazine to make it more appealing to my audience. Then I have added my main article that's featured in my magazine into the text box so that it is seen by my target audience when they first look at the magazine. I have also added the date, issue number and price of the magazine to make it look more like a magazine.

Stage 5:

I have added more articles that will be featured in my magazine onto the right of my magazine so that it is more appealing to my target audience. Also it doesn't make my front cover look empty which shows that my magazine has enough in it to provide a good reading experience to my target audience.

Stage 6: Final piece

This is my final front cover, I have edited the text to the right so that it is more aesthetically pleasing also easier to read for the audience because before the colours of the text blended with the background making it harder to read so I had to add a white rim to it so it is easier to see.

Fonts and Album designs

Fonts:

Here are some of the font's I could use for my magazine...

Masthead:

The first font I picked I feel fits my genre perfectly, I like how the letter are spaced closely together so that they look like they are merging together. After researching and looking at other EDM magazines they seem to use a similar font to this so this would be a great font to use. I think I will use this for my font for my masthead.

The second font I picked doesn't fit as well with my music genre, even though it is modern and I like the style of the 'S' the font is to thin and not spaced the way I want it to be. I will not be using this font for my magazine masthead, but I could be used for other text in the magazine.

The third font I picked I feel that it could be used for my masthead because the letter style is modern but looks like it was styled for 'Sci-Fi' style which fits in with all the electronic music EDM has. But I won't be using this for my magazine masthead.

Album Design:

This is my album design for my artist, I have tried to keep it clean ans simple because that is what my artist portrays in his character. I named it Blank Faces EP because my artist character has no facial features. But even though my artist looks simple, his music will get people excited and up on their feet.
